Morgan L. Busse is one of those authors that, regardless of genre, I will pick up and read as soon as I see her name on the cover. Honestly, I didn't even read the back cover blurb for Winter's Maiden, I just got my hands on a copy as soon as I could. When I discovered that it is the start of a new series, The Nordic Wars, I was even more excited than before.
Winter's Maiden proved to be another spellbinding tale from the ever talented pen of Morgan L. Busse. The harsh and dramatic landscapes, the Nordic culture that felt both familiar and fantastical, and the well written characters made this story every bit as delightful to read as I had anticipated.
Over the years I've really come to expect a lot from Morgan L. Busse and her vivid storytelling. No matter the genre, from fantasy to steampunk with a touch of dystopian, she always delivers a story that fully immerses the reader within that particular world and totally invests them in the characters' lives.
There is absolutely nothing to dislike about Winter's Maiden except having to wait what feels like practically forever for the next Nordic Wars book to release....
