Others include "The Rundle Journals" edited by local historian Hugh Dempsey. William Stewart Herron was one of the first independent oil developers in the province. Herron, a rancher, attempted to open an oil field on his property as early as 1911. Though never wealthy, Herron achieved some prosperity and became one of the first champions of the Turner Vally Oilfield.
