This report looks at childminding as an occupation. The authors argue that childminding should be seen within the overall context of care work - child care and social care. Here, demand is increasing and the pool of care workers is decreasing. The authors call for a rethinking and revaluing of childminding within the wider context of reconceptualising work with children and adults, producing new understandings which can inform training, pay and occupational structures.
