Gail, the author, is/was the wife of a physician. For decades he experimented successfully to prevent/cure toxemia in pregnant women. She tells advice that is exactly the opposite of what used to be commonly advised. She says that since 1958 he had 100% success with his experiment. For example, it is good, actually essential, to eat salt. It is good to eat lean beef. It is essential to eat protein. The correct definition of toxemia is the key. I read this before I had children. I had seven children using this advice, and I can tell you from experience that when I used this advice, it worked! There are suggested recipes in the back of the book.
