These six biblical, yet contemporary dramas provide an opportunity to reenact the sacred events of the Passion in a way that deepens understanding and awe of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Each play features a key character of the Resurrection story. The plays are flexible, versatile, brief (15 to 20 minutes each), and adaptable to different situations and settings. They can be presented by high school teens and youth groups and adults of any age. The plays may be presented with full staging or in Reader's Theater style, with biblical costumes or modern attire. They may be presented one or two plays at a time during the Lenten season, or individual scenes can be used in worship to enhance a special service. Because the plays touch every aspect of Holy Week, specific plays or scenes may be performed in connection with a particular observance. For example, the Last Supper scene in The Leader is effective with the Sacrament of Communion and the empty tomb scene in The Friend is effective on Easter morning. Plays included in this collection: The Leader--Peter; The Churchman--Caiaphas; The Politician--Pilate; The Sergeant--the Centurion; The Mother--Mary; The Friend--Mary Magdalene; The Beloved--John; The Patron--Joseph of Arimathea; and The Skeptic--Thomas.
