Seller's Description:
VG. Size: 24 cm.; Text free of underlining, writing and highlighting. Preface This is a study of the victory in a single province of Vietnam of a revolutionary social movement, led by a communist party, using the technique of people's war. The reader will find few evil or incompetent characters in this book, but rather an account of how such a revolutionary movement was able to gain victory despite the efforts of a considerable number of honest and conscientious men, acting according to their best understanding. This book is in two parts. In the first four chapters, covering the years from 1954 to 1965, the main concern has been to analyze what factors were critical in the victory of the revolutionary movement. The principal focus is on developments during the important years from 1956 to 1960, during which each side laid the foundations for its subsequent victory or defeat. The last two chapters rely on the analysis contained in the preceding pages to evaluate the situation as it stood in 1968 and 1970, following the intervention of American combat forces and the adoption of several new programs by the Saigon government. 299 pages.
