This is the 3rd vol in a trilogy Lucarelli has written set in Bologna after WWII. Inspector DeLuca tries to hold his balance, and stay alive, in the great power struggle that goes on after the war. Groups and friends and enemies change constantly, as this honorable detective tries to solve murders despite obstruction from several sources, and the chance always of trusting the wrong people. Very short novel with a compact style of writing.
