French description: Les Variations pour piano, op. 27, d'Anton Webern sont considerees a la fois comme une oeuvre revolutionnaire et une oeuvre cle de la musique du XXe siecle. Aussi a-t-elle fait l'objet, dans la litterature musicologique, d'une trentaine d'analyses. Le present ouvrage du musicologue bresilien, Luiz Paulo Sampaio, se reclame explicitement de la conception tripartite de la semiologie musicale dont il fournit la premiere illustration complete appliquee a une oeuvre d'envergure: y sont analysees, tour a tour, ses structures immanentes (l'analyse du niveau neutre), les strategies de composition qui en sont a l'origine (l'analyse poietique) et les strategies de perception auxquelles elles donnent lieu (l'analyse esthesique).
