The cassette shows how these potential life-saving techniques are put into practice. The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) becomes operational on 1st February 1999. This third edition gives details of the new equipment that will be required from that date for all operators of small craft, and includes the syllabus for the new Radio Operator's Certificate which will also come into force then.
