Continuous transformation of urban space and dichotomy shaped cities: Cities can be understood as space of town rulers, but also as space of a growing 'boheme', but you will find also neighbourhood of Jewish and Muslim quarters. French description: La thematique complexe de l'espace est depuis longtemps au centre des reflexions de la Commission Internationale pour l'Histoire des Villes. Le present volume qui publie les communications faites (en francais et en anglais) a ses colloques de Lisbonne (2013) et de Clermont-Ferrand (2014) en est une expression.
