Oversize squre format HC/DJ. 1st trade edition after a special limited edition. Inscribed and signed by Tice on the title page and dated 1985. There is a light damp line across the bottom edge of the boards with some offset bleed of the color fromt the cloth to the blank reverse of the jacket. Damp ripple across the bottom edge of the book's pages; no discoloration. It appears there was a spill or leak on the book shelf affecting the bottom edge. Very Good in Very Good jacket. Quarto. Signed by Author 131pp, quarter white cloth, three-quarter brown cloth boards with titles on spine and front cover in gilt. Binding is tight, with straight spine and square corners, especially the page ends. Slight bump to lower back board and a small reddish mark near that bump. Otherwise book itself shows little wear. Signed by Tice on first page after front free endpaper, "8/17/89 For Paul, George A. Tice, Rockport, Maine." Dust jacket is intact, top 1/4 brown with white titles, lower 3/4 black with a large black and white photo by Tice and titles in yellow. Brown portion appears slightly faded at extremities, especially on spine. Mild shelfwear to top and bottom spine ends. Two-inch long scratch on lower front board, near bottom corner. Unclipped pictorial jacket has superficial wear at the extremties. Back of jacket is cream colored with blurbs in black and a small black and white photo by Tice near the bottom. Tice has made his name as one of the foremost chroniclers of American life, particularly in New Jersey, his native state.
