RAND Arroyo Center estimated the feasibility and likely benefits of using unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to support logistics operations. Future theaters rich in bandwidth will have robust networks that can satisfy many logistics needs, and the Army should invest in connectivity to that network. In bandwidth-poor theaters, small UAS with direct, point-to-point connectivity may be an attractive option for providing critical situational awareness.
