On her own at a small, Protestant university, she meets entertaining international students, confused roommates, and searching friends. When Ana accepts a friend's invitation to spend a holiday in southern Spain with an ex-patriot couple who run a small hotel, her world begins to change in more ways than she could have planned. She is immersed in the unfamiliar atmosphere of foreign cultures, illegal immigrants, and family drama, and upon returning, realizes that she can't escape her desire for more.
