These are the actual letters my father, Jay Woodrow Marsh, wrote to his family while serving in the Army during World War II from basic training through the D-Day invasion to a tiny military post office in Wales. Throughout, he kept in contact with various family members, including his parents, wife, and daughter back in Michigan; sister who served in Africa and Italy with the WACs; and brother whose experiences at Monte Cassino left a lasting impression on the whole family.
