Good+ No Jacket. 12mo-over 6¾"-7¾" tall. First printing (same date on TP and CP with no additional printings listed). Translated by Mrs. D. M. Lowrey. Red and gilt decorated paper-covered boards quarter bound in burgundy leather. Gilt spine lettering. Top edge gilt. 329 pp. plus illustrations. Considerable shelfwear: Worn through all around the board edges. The boards are rubbed and scuffed in spots. The leather is torn along the joints. A gift inscription, dated 1890, is penciled on the front free endpaper. The text is clean and bright, and in a tight binding with hinges intact.
