Tarkövi is an exceptionally smooth and agile player, and his readings of the standard Haydn Trumpet Concerto in E flat major, H. 7e:1, and Hummel's Trumpet Concerto in E major are quite elegant, with the trumpet seeming to float above the carefully controlled strings of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. The effect is enhanced by fine Super Audio multichannel sound from the Tudor label; even auditioned on a good conventional stereo, the depth and transparency of the sound are remarkable.
