An ax to Grind
Although is cannot be denied that the scholarship in data and research is certainly formidable, this author clearly has "an ax to grind." Some of his reasoning doesn't come through with sound examples or conclusions. I found it very difficult to get by his very fundamentalist views. This book may appeal to those who are in kind with this thinking, but anyone who has an open mind enough to believe that God is a God of all people and we are not here to create division and judgments will find much fuel for continued strife among our worldwide brothers and sisters. There is outright condemnation for any who do not adhere to the author's particular view of Christianity. Isn't this what keeps getting us into wars? Mr. Morey's book is filled with a determination to discredit any spirituality other than the outlined Orthodox Christianity as a Satanic expression damned to hell. His faith and conviction are to be admired, but one can find faith and conviction among people of all faiths and traditions. For his academic presentation, the author must be recognized in excellence, but like a doctor who is said to have poor bedside manners, Mr. Morey's personal beliefs seem to filter through like a nasty wind.
