This is the original version of Patricia St. John's beautifully written story of tragedy and forgiveness set in Switzerland, where the author once lived. It is a true classic, with a suspenseful and satisfying ending and a powerful lesson in the way God wants us to respond when we are wronged. The book has been revised for modern readers, but I much prefer this edition. Miss St. John writes like a poet, and her work should not be changed.

Lovely Story
No childhood is complete without reading this memorable and deeply moving tale which explores how attitudes of the heart such as resentment, selfishness, and remorse reveal much of who a person really is. The evildoer can repent, and the self-righteousness of another can turn to evil. Even a poor, crippled, angelic child can become spoiled. A perfect read for Christmastime, with exciting action and lasting messages.
