If you want a first book on using metal detectors and treasure hunting, this is the book for you. This book covers all the topics you will need to know including metal detectors (choosing and using), where to look for treasure, how to look, how to "dig it up" even laws on treasure hunting.
The author, Charles Garrett, owns Garrett metal detectors, a manufacturer of treasure hunting metal detectors as well as industrial metal detectors for security and quality control uses. This means he is an expert, but also slightly biased towards his brand. Actually, he does an outstanding job of writing a book that applies to all metal detectors.
Again, a great first book, if you want to learn everything there is to know about metal detectors get "Garrett's book Modern Metal Detectors" it will have more information than you actually needed. Or for treasure hunting get "The New Successful Coin Hunting" or one of his other more specific books.
