Seller's Description:
Karel Capek. Very Good (Minus) in Very Good (Minus) jacket. 12mo-over 6¾"-7¾" tall. Travel writing by the prominent Czech author of "War with the Newts." This is a Very Good (Minus) copy of the First English Edition, translated from the original Czech by M. & R. Weatherall. Not common. Yellow cloth binding with silver titling on the spine; blindstamped author initial on the front cover. Clean text; 269 pages, with two pages of publisher adverts in the rear. Illustrated with Capek's drawings and a coloured frontis. Fore-edge has some spotting; else a very bright textblock. The covers are firm and square, but the yellow binding shows soiling at the margins and some faint stains. The dustwrapper is unclipped; however, it is darkened (particularly at the spine) and has chipping at corners and the head and foot of the spine. There is a faint pencil notation on the rear flap. In an archival plastic protector.
