From early childhood through adulthood, Dee was abused mentally, emotionally, physically, and sexually by many. The worst abuse was at the hands those who were supposed to love her. She was taught to keep secrets or suffer the consequences. Dee tried counseling at different points as an adult, but she always ran away from it. She couldn't tell those secrets trapped deep in her mind and heart. Dee kept silent, fearing rejection or abandonment. She couldn't face God, feeling unworthy, and blamed herself for everything she suffered because it had been instilled in her from the beginning. Her third marriage was to a man who is sick, twisted, and abusive in every way imaginable. Dee was virtually trapped like a prisoner of war with constant threats to her life, the lives of her children, and anyone who got in the way if she tried to leave. After seven long years, Dee found the courage to escape and began to take her life back. She was all in, holding nothing back as she worked hard to heal with the help of her counselor. Dee tells her story only to give hope and encourage those who are still trapped. Her dream is to open a Christian home where those who are trapped can find a safe place to heal like she did.
