It will scarcely be pretended that Paul and his associates in the ministry were fond of cards or dancing. If they frequented the theatre, it was only to preach the Gospel to Such as could not be met with elsewhere. Their disciples, by imi tating their holy example, prevented the necessity of partic ular precepts. The argument in question is, therefore, of no particular importance, unless it be proved that these amusements are not forbidden by the general tenor of Scrip ture.
