K-Tel's Top Ten College Fight Songs does indeed round up ten of the finest fight songs around, all played with a considerable amount of vigor by the marching bands from the schools that made the songs famous. University of Michigan's "The Victors," Notre Dame's "Notre Dame Victory March" and the University of Minnesota's "Minnesota Rouser" being especially inspiring. Oddly, the songs here that aren't as rousing are from schools whose football teams don't exactly inspire any awe such as the Naval Academy's "Anchors Aweigh" and Yale's "Down the Field March," both of which sound more suited to an afternoon of watching silent films than of watching over-fed teenage maniacs pound the daylights out of each other. Although the songs undoubtedly sound better in person amongst a hollering throng, this collection does indeed help to get the old collegiate blood flowing. Perfect for tailgate parties and, well, not much else. ~ Tim Sendra, Rovi
