Seller's Description:
Near Fine. 4to-over 9¾"-12" tall. Signed by Author(s) Appears to be First Edition. 4to-over 9¾"-12" tall. [144]p. A nearly fine copy, with a very small insect hole (about the size of a ball-point pen tip) in the front outside gutter of the spine, no d.j. nor did it probably ever have one. The book is in a poor box with one flap lacking, one-half of another flap lacking, and a stain on one of the other flaps. This copy is inscribed and illustrated by Tony Sarg on the blank white paste-down endpaper which is also the verso of the front cover. The inscription, in pencil, is to Caroline and Tony Sarg signed ii in 1928. The illustration shows a dog chasing a mouse. There were two very different editions of this book, one with two movables and the other with no movables which is the one we have here. The box has a printed label on the back which calls this the Mary Sarg edition. Mary was Tony Sarg's daughter. Which edition came before the other is not known to us, although the copy in the Library of Congress appears to be our edition, with no mention of a window or movables. This book contains ten stories.
