To Liberate and Redeem probes how present-day moral decisions can be informed by studying the biblical story of persons and groups who wrestled with similar concerns while standing in faithful responsiveness to God. The biblical materials, Long writes, contain many of the same diversities that need to characterize moral reflection as an invitation to be faithful rather than as a demand to be correct.This unfolding drama is characterized by persons or groups who need liberation because they are trapped in oppressive structures and by those once freed who need to faithfully construct communities of redemption.
