Simon is an engaging and interesting main character with an aura of mystery around him, and there are several delightful side characters. The bad guys are really, really bad and the stakes are sky-high. Each book has been better than the last and the action really keeps moving. Williams finds a way to gracefully end each book in the trilogy (there are four - book three has 2 large parts) so that plot points are largely wrapped up. Still, the suspense keeps me coming back. This is a disciplined author who cares deeply about the reader's experience of the story and I love him for it.
