Thomas Lynch lives in the present day Philadelphia and accidentally creates a device that allows a single person to transport themselves to any time, but not any place. His actions on making a timepiece land him in colonial Philadelphia during the creation of the Declaration of Independence of the United States. It's here that he meets Benjamin Franklin and helps define American History and in doing so meets Audrey. Tom crosses through three time periods and what he discovers surprises him.
