A very sobering, and yet riveting account about one of the darkest hours of our US military. Well researched, and without bias, it is a straightforward look into some of the horrors of warfare, especially with our involvement in Vietnam. The soldiers were following orders, as they understood them, but their leadership was complicit and turned a blind eye to the atrocities during one campaign. After many years of inquiry, and detailed accounts of eye witnesses, not one soldier was ever formally charged with any war crimes. The Army and Washington simply covered it up to never speak of it again. A tragic lesson about warfare and the horrible toll on the young men called to war.
