This book was quite difficult to follow. The first part seemed almost to be written in a foreign language with some words in common with modern English. Yet I was fascinated by it, especially by what it seems to tell of the culture of this region in the 1700s. I am particularly interested because this is the exact area where many of my ancestors lived at that time. I would describe this book as haunting, in ways horrifying. I intend to read it again to try for a better understanding of what the author was saying in this book.
