In hearing a CD of percussion music from China, it is difficult to avoid comparing it with Japanese percussion music, thinking of such groups as Kodo or Ondekoza. There are obvious similarities, but differences as well. One simple yet obvious difference is a cymbal which has a unique and typically Chinese sound (heard first on track four).
