Louise Alder is one of the rising generation of British sopranos, a BBC Cardiff Singer of the World finalist, and a performer with several operas under her belt, both in Britain and abroad. Her readings of these Strauss songs, a gutsy choice for a young singer (they have various adult currents lurking under the surface, and not just in the Leidenschaft , or Passion, section), have an operatic tinge.
