If you interpret the title of this three-disc compilation the right way, you won't be let down. Its title is This Is Hip Hop -- as in "this is some hip-hop," rather than " this is hip-hop." So it's not the definitive set you might expect it to be, though anyone remotely familiar with hip-hop will understand its lack of definitiveness after the quickest of glances at the track listing.
