Chess, thanks for your helpful review!! I have read lots of Kennedy books, and have been hoping to locate something on the CUBAN CRISIS. ANY more reccommendations?
I just ordered this libro/book thanks to your helpful review.

6. THE DEATH OF A PRESIDENT, Wm Manchester

Manchester writes: READ IT!!
NOW here is THE ONE to look at, also, as it pertains to the US Military in the Pacific Front in WWII...JFK is throughout this book! It is really a KEEPER for me!! read this:
7. ISLANDS OF DESTINY. by John Prados
Bk #4: terribly good. This I depicted, initially to focus ONLY on TEDDY...DUH am I.....(NEVER judge a book by the cover, eh?) It tells the reader how TEDDY was used as a scapegoat, especially by his brothers (and parents: those 2 were a "TRIP" to say the least!!)
#1 & #3..GREAT for overall synopsis!

Chess game
This is an excellent insider account of the Cuban missile crisis. Robert Kennedy explains what happened day by day, how close we were to World War III, and how JFK (and his advisers) always tried to predict the next Russian moves (just like in a chess game). Interestingly, JFK (while forcing the withdrawal of the missiles) was careful enough to always offer the Russians a way out of the crisis which could not be viewed as humiliating.
