Even though Jeanna is not convinced Kim has a serious eating disorder, she dispassionately helps by stealing Kim's diary, which reveals the magnitude of Kim's problem. In Thin Veils Book I, Anne Hanson introduces her readers to the very real problem that more and more of our young adults are falling victim to: that is the problem of eating disorders. In addition to the devastating physical effects, which can include death, there are the emotional effects as well. Anne is acutely aware that teens feed their self-esteem from the "you can't be too thin menu".
