Luther knew so much of the Bible from memory and that is why the Lord opened his eyes to see the truth of justification in Romans 1:17. Here are some important reasons we should memorize the Scripture: 1.Bible Memorization leads to being conform to Christ. Paul wrote that "we all, . . . beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another" (2 Corinthians 3:18). 2. Scripture Memorization helps us to triumph over Sin. "I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you" (Psalm 119:9, 11). Paul said that we must "by the Spirit . . . put to death the sinful deeds of the body" (Romans 8:13). 3. Bible Memorization leads us to triumph over Satan. When Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, he recited Scripture from memory and put Satan to flight (Matthew 4:1-11). 4. Bible Memorization helps us to communicate the Gospel to Unbelievers. I meditate on it all day long". Psalm 119:97 10. It helps us to think about the excellent and praiseworthy "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things".
