This bokk, by Grant & Freedman is more about the Gospel of Thomas than just any or all of the secret sayings of Jesus. Grant is a recognized and well respected scholar in Biblical studies. I know nothing about Freedman, yet if Grant co-authors with him that speaks volumes (positive) to me.
The Gospel of Thomas is one of the repressed books of the Church of the third century AD and yet its contents are still used by folowers of the the Thomas Christian point of view. What I like about the work is that it raises questions that create a questing mentality, thus opening the respondent to the possibility of listening and perhaps actually hearing the divine voice of the Creator rather than telling people that God must be found in one way and one way only. Freedom is an important facet of genuine spirituality for it gives the seeker an opportunity to be themselves and thus find direction that fits their lives in the work of the divine purpose.
