Pure Childhood Magic
I believe that this story was written in the early sixties, the same as my birthdate. I found a tired little copy in a school room while on break from my daily toiling as a school district "phone man". Wonderful! This is a sweet little story that touches the heart and instantly instills a deep holiday feeling. This book is right up there with other greats, such as Where the Wild Things Are, The Mouse and the Motorcycle and The Patchwork Cat. This book has helped inspire me to use my own creative abilities of writing and drawing to put only such pure and good things as this into the world. The art is by Margaret Bloy Graham, and is perfect in capturing the action, emotions and warmth of the story. I recommend this as a great read for anyone - adult or kid alike. It would be ideal for a parent to read with their kids. Dear Gene and Margaret - thank you so very much. You make the world brighter and have challenged others to aim so high.
