This is a classic tale of the consequences of not keeping up with your daily responsibilities of maintaining order. As a teacher of young children, I read this book very early in the year, often the first day of school, to make the point that tstudents need to put things back where they got them, replace the cap on the glue, and so forth. In the book, the man is too tired to wash his dishes one night, and so saves it for the next. This continues until he is eating out of vases and ashtrays, and finally has nothing to eat out of all. He has a unique way of solving the problem, learns his lesson and always does his dishes after that. It is an old book, and the illustrations are line drawings, but I think they are charming. One other thing--I usually have to explain what an ashtray is!

THe Man Who Never Washed His Dishes
this is an enjoyable story about a man who never washed his dishes. It tells of how he used everything else he could to eat on, even a soap dish , and his ingenious remedy to finally wash the many dishes he had accumulated. It is truly a wonderful story for all ages.

Imagination running wild!
I FONDLY remember this book from my childhood - silly, light, and ridiculous. Even as a child, I knew this was fiction but I enjoyed the story and the pictures over and over.
