Good Plus. First Printing. Raymond was the Editor of the New York Times and he brought this volume out with amazing dispatch after the assassintion of Lincoln. The full title is " The Life And Public Services Of Abraham Lincoln, Sixteenth President Of The United States, Together With His State Papers, Including His Speeches, Addresses, Messages, Letters, And Proclamations, And The Closing Scenes Connected With His Life And Death ". Frank B. Carpenter, who had lived in the White House for an extended period, added a section, " Anecdotes And Personal Reminiscences Of President Lincoln ". The Frontispiece is a Steel Engraving of Lincoln engraved by A. H. Ritchie. Illustrated with fifteen additional engravings. The textblock of the book is in very good condition with some foxing throughout. All material, including the advertising material, is present. 808 pages plus advertising. The back endpaper is torn and most of it is missing. The back board shows water damage. The cloth on both boards and the spine show wear and some chips to the cloth. The gold graphics on the spine remain very bright. The hinges are still tight on the large volume and the boards are firmly attached. The interior is clean, no marks except for the name of the previous owner on the front pastedown and his seal on the front endpaper.
