Backhouse was considerably energetic as a preacher. Tylor's son-in-law was George Cadbury, the chocolatier. The boards are sound. They are scuffed, worn, rubbed all about. They are sound and steady. The frontispage has the remains of a bookplate. The reverse-frontispage has a scratchy signature by a previous owner. The contents are placid and serious. They have evidence of contented use throughout with some occasional marks from handling and use. The pages are otherwise certain, clear, clean, conscientious, confident, convivial. fk.

Internally, the hinges are cracked and there are retailer's stickers under the boards along with a previous owner's signature on the verso of the front end page. There is light tanning and foxing throughout, but there are no other markings or inscriptions, and the pages within are neat and complete. The binding is secure.
