"Ever heard of this book?" I asked my professor. I found it in a used bookstore. "Certainly!" he replied, "it's one of the best books available on history and it's required reading in a lot of graduate programs." He was right, if you want to know what history IS (not just what it's about), this book will finally make sense of it, from beginning to end. I bought a copy for one of my other professors and he ate it up. If you like history, so will you! (And then read Collingwood's book "Autobiography." I read both of these in my undergrad years and I'm quoting them in my doctoral dissertation - they're that good!)
