Quite an interesting take
From the Fox and the Hound cartoon, you do get that tasteful connect of the characters and there personalities; but at the same time this is nothing like the movie (not that I figured it would be). It's down to the grits with living life as a fox who was never raised by his parents to a hound who's taught strong obedience and is the best at what he does; tracking. When these two titans clash it makes for interesting stories, tricks, and skills. I found it insightful as to how wild animals learn from nature and humans. I do have to say, I predicted the ending after reading the wikipedia short paragraph; but it somehow still managed to shock me.
If you remember the cartoon, this will be a good wake up call to you. It's like most of Disneys stories that come from other sources; down and dirty with the truth of itself.
I give it a 4 out of 5.
The only thing it lacks is a little more perspective from Copper's side, I think but I'm sure he wasn't doing too much anyways. Also the fact that Copper and Todd share a lot of same experiences yet I only get to see the one side of it. That was a downer, but still a great book.
