This is the first full-length history of the Cold War. There is extensive analysis of the origins of Second World War and of inter-allied relations during that war. The bulk of the text, however, is devoted to the great postwar struggle between East and West. The author was the Research Pr5ofessor of International Relations at Vanderbilt University and had served as an adviser to the State Department as well as having been a radio commentator. He had authored six books previously to this monumental accomplishment.
