Cream linen covered boards with gold spine lettering, orange and illustrated dust jacket with black lettering on cover and spine, 205 pp., bw illustrations. "John Miller deals solely with colonial architects and the buildings they designed from New Hampshire to South Carolina, and not with the product of carpenters and master builders. Over two hundred line illustrations document their work. Inasmuch as most of the buildings dealth with were wealthy gentlemen, the Anglican Church or the government the book is also a view of the history of upper-class life in the American Colonies; their ecclesiastical, governmental and educational activites. Millar accomplishes his aim to present drawings and verbal descriptions of all the buildings built in the Colonies by people who deserved the title of architect."-dust jacket description.
