I have always loved the period of English history pre World War 1. In particular, the era from 1800 to 1913. The old world moving to the new world.
Re-reading this series of 3 books during Christmas time 2021 is a joy.
Downton Abbey ( 2010 -2015 ) is a wonderful TV drama series on the lives of Earl Grantham Crawley, his mom The Dowager Countess of Grantham, his wife Countess Cora and his 3 daughters Lady Mary, Lady Edith and Lady Sybil in their Yorkshire country estate Downton Abbey in England.
The series covered the years from 1912 to 1926. This is thus the glorious Edwardian period as Edward VII had succeeded his mom Queen Victoria who died in 1901.
Edward VII was succeeded by George V, Edward VIII ( who abdicated), George VI and now Elizabeth II.
This official companion to series 1 and 2 has many beautiful photographs and articles. Highly recommended.
