This Volume is one of the First Issue of this Edition of Fielding Novels, 1893. Edited by George Saintsbury. Illustrated by Herbert Railton and E.J. Wheeler. Forest-green brushed cloth binding with ornate gilt crest and title on front, gilt titled and decorated on spine. The crest is also on the front paste-down with printing information within. Boards are unmarked, with light scuffing on corners. Also on the front board is the previous owner name in gilt letters. There is also a label on the rear paste-down with his name on it. Sewn binding tight and solid. Top edge gilt. Rough cut pages on both fore edge and bottom edge. Back of book has some greenish spotting. Pages lightly toned, are clean and unmarked. page 3/4 has tear to bottom edge. Lettering and design on title page in red and black. Delightful illustrations protected with onion skin, that capture the events, fashions, manners of the day and story perfectly.
