The primary aim of the research was to advance knowledge and understanding of photographs in everyday life. It investigated what type of photographs people carry around, why they carry them, what meaning they have and what they say about the culture in which their owner live. As such, the book provides a starting point for a discussion about the value and meaning of still images as cultural artifacts.
