Will DeBuys has personified the experiencing of New Mexico's spirit in his descriptions, particularly of the sensations and impressions of watching the season's first irrigation waters illuminating the fields in moving sparkles. I am already re-reading parts of this book. The Walk is both personal and generally reflective. Thanks. Also I highly recommend his earlier work "Enchantment and Exploitation, The Life and Hard Times of a New Mexico Mountain Range," which gives a chronology as well as physical, geographic and social descriptions of the area.
