Adopting a variety of methodologies, each of the contributors draws a link between the particular and the general, a text or a picture at hand and a mechanism that produces or annihilates meanings. Some big literary names surface in the book, most notably William Shakespeare and Henry James, but forgotten and marginalized writers and artists, such as old Irish poets, Wyndham Lewis, Stefan Themerson, feminist and postcolonial dramatists are also brought into the limelight.
