The latter group is best known in the U.S. for scoring a sizeable hit during the early days of MTV, "On the Loose," but the group issued many an album over the ensuing years, and the 2004 import compilation, The Very Best of Saga manages to collect most of their career highlights. While their big brothers Rush started out "prog" and then later embraced melody, it appears as though Saga was pop-minded all along. Picture a cross between synth popsters the Buggles and early-'80s era Rush, and you're not far off from the style that Saga specialized in. It also turns out that the group had quite a few other selections that mixed both musical worlds, as "On the Loose" did, as evidenced by such standouts here as "How Long," "Wind Him Up," "The Flyer," and "What Do I Know" (the latter being Saga's last notable U.S. radio hit, back in 1985).
